Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1989 with the aim of playing a key role in
expanding British exports to Chile. With offices in the Embassy of Chile in London, the
Chamber has eleven years experience of sourcing and building business contacts
in Chile, of organising trade missions to the market, and of meeting the wide-ranging
requirements of its members. Q: Who’s on our team? A:
The Chamber has amassed a wealth of commercial data and
enjoys specialist human resources. The Chairman, Mr. Desmond O'Conor, who has
a lifetime's working relationship with Chile, heads the London operatiion of
Antofagasta plc, is Chairman of the Latin American Group of IFSL (formerly British
Invisibles) and formerly a Director of Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. The General
Manager is Mr Cristián León who started his career as a journalist
for El Mercurio newspaper in Chile and has worked as PR Excecutive for ASK Comunicaciones
in Chile and for the Embassy of Chile in London since 1999 as Head of Press
and then Culture. Q: Which are our prime contacts? A:
The BCCC is linked to a network of contacts in both the
UK and in Chile. In Chile, the Chamber works closely with the Santiago Chamber
of Commerce, the Chilean-British Chamber of Commerce, the British Embassy, and
other important national agencies. In the UK, the Chamber has close contacts
with the Chilean Embassy, UK Trade & Invest, the Foreign and Commonwealth
Office and regional Chambers of Commerce. Q: Who are our Sponsors? A: Several large corporations
in the UK and Chile have recognised the valuable work undertaken by the Chamber
