Dear Members,
The BCCC has been for nineteen years actively promoting business links between the United Kingdom and Chile . In this period, the trade between these countries has grown substantially to levels of £ 678 million per annum and now has a solid base to keep on developing.
Chile counts now with first class international communication links that allows it easily to exploit its commercial advantages to its best.
In the same period, British investment and commerce with Chile has reached levels never seen before and excellent relations persist between the two countries.
All this good news has helped the BCCC to see its objectives of development of commercial relations between the two countries largely fulfilled and it is now very difficult for the institution to add on a day to day basis to such a successful story exceeding the original expectations of the founders.
The Board of the BCCC has therefore decided that it is now a sensible time to unwind its business. We feel more than confident that there exist the right institutions and links between the two countries to be able to maintain the excellent level of commercial exchange between the two countries.
The BCCC will cease business on the 31 st of December 2008. I am sure you will be able to find all the help you need regarding commercial relations with Chile from Pro-Chile (0207 930 5650), the Chilean Embassy Commercial arm. The Anglo-Chilean Society (0207 235 2303) will also help you to keep social contact with your British-Chilean friends.
I would like to thank all of you on behalf of the Chamber and of the Board of the BCCC for your continuous support through the years.
Yours sincerely,
Desmond O’Conor
Chairman
